In March and April of 2007, Carol joined a group of fellow educators from the Calgary Board of Education to tour Korea and China. The purpose of the trip was to become familiar with the educational systems of the two countries and to learn about their history, culture and current affairs. From Seoul, to Shanghai, Xi'an and Beijing the tour offered a fascinating glimpse of wealth and poverty; antiquity and modernization. 

 

Our flight from Vancouver took us over the dramatic landscape of Alaska.	We also crossed the vast lands of Siberia.
This temple garden in the midst of the highrises in Seoul epitomize the blend of old and new which characterize Asian cities today.	The entrance plaza to the city wall in Xi'an was a gathering place for elderly Chinese to perform Tai Chi, children to fly dragon kites and hundreds of people to navigate on bicycles.
